JoJohn Peretti Vega a devoted Father, family man, and lifelong lover of racing and classic cars passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born in Wiesbaden, Germany to Joe Vega, Jr. and Madeliene Peretti Vega and his family moved to the United States when he was two years of age.
JoJohn lived life to the fullest in his professional life as well as his personal life! He had a strong work ethic with which he served Mesilla Valley transportation as Vice President and later assumed responsibility of daily operations. He was highly esteemed and respected for his leadership, dedication and commitment to the company and the people he worked with, forging friendships from all walks of life for 31 years until his retirement in 2025.
One of his greatest prides was racing at El Paso Speedway Park where he spent countless hours doing what he loved; competing, pushing limits and sharing the excitement of the track with friends and fellow racers. Those days at the speedway were more than a pastime, they were a defining part of who he was.
His racing days evolved into the restoration of classic vehicles which he held true appreciation for. During his free time, JoJohn could often be found in the garage, listening to his beloved blues music to the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn and BB King while happily working on such classics as his 1956 Ford Pickup and his 1936 Ford Coupe, which he restored to stronger levels of speed and exhibited them in car shows. He was a proud member of the Early Times Street Rod Association.
His faith and service to the community was equally important to him. He was a parishioner of St. Matthew Catholic Parish where he served faithfully as an usher. As a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus for over 40 years, his kindness and willingness to help others was known to all.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Suresh Antony, Dr. Saurabh Pande, the nurses of ICU and 5th floor of The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus for their compassion and care. For the combined care of the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care NW, Providence Memorial Radiology Department, Hospice of El Paso Palliative Care (Taneka), First Care Home Health and countless others who assisted him through his illness, we thank you most sincerely and last but not least, God Bless you Jorge, Silvia, Nellie, Edna, and Cynthia for your kindness and care.
