With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Josefina Ramirez, who left this world on June 30, 2025, at the age of 90. She passed peacefully at Pebble Creek Nursing Center in El Paso, Texas, surrounded by family.
Born on April 4, 1935, in San Elizario, Texas, Josefina was a woman of quiet strength – the kind forged in hardship and honed through years of love, labor, and unshakable will. She lived a life marked by resilience and grace, and her presence was a guiding light to all. Her warmth, wisdom, and compassion left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Josefina raised her two sons, Hector Ramirez (married to Gloria) and Eduardo Ramirez (married to Norma), with steadfast devotion and courage. As a single mother, she taught by example—instilling values of hard work, humility, kindness, and perseverance. Her love for her sons was fierce and unconditional, and she was endlessly proud of the men they became.
She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and their spouses, and the great-grandmother to thirteen, as well as the great-great-grandmother to four more. Each of them carries a part of her legacy. Josefina is also survived by her cherished siblings Catalina Fuller, Roberto Ramirez, and Eloisa R. Licon, along with their extended families.
Her life was a tapestry of small moments that meant everything—homemade meals, gentle hands, whispered prayers, and stories shared. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the many lives she touched. Rest in peace, Josefina. You were deeply loved, and you will be missed more than words can say. Your legacy lives on in all of us.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
