

Joseph E. Burer, 80, passed away on April 12, 2016 in El Paso, Texas. He was born on April 23, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas to Herman and Wilma Burer. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years as a Drill Instructor. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 7 years prior to becoming a U.S. Border Patrol Agent. After 3 years in the BP, he transferred to U.S. Customs and continued his career as a DEA and Special Agent. He retired in 1989 after a combined 33 years of service to his Country. In 1956 he married the love of his life, Mary A. Williams. Mr. Burer was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Cathy. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary; his daughter, Michelle Saenz; and grandchildren, Alex Beale, Lance Slack, and Lita Flora Saenz. He is a Breast Cancer, Colon Cancer and Skin Cancer survivor…an Overall Bad A$$! Please join us in honoring Joseph by attending his services as follows: Visitation will be held from 5-9pm with a Celebration of Life to begin at 7pm on Monday, April 18, 2016 at FDA Martin East.
