August 7, 1955 - March 8, 2025
Joseph S. Valerio was born August 7, 1955 in Germany, and died March 8, 2025, in El Paso, Texas, at 69 years old.
He is survived by his son Eric J. Valerio, daughter-in-law Mayra, daughter Rachel V. Valerio, son-in-law Andrew, and son Daniel E. Welch; two grandchildren, Isabella and Victoria; and siblings Carmen, John, and Dominic.
He believed love and family were at the core of life. He had an open mind and accepted those around him as they were. Joseph wasn’t anyone but himself, never mincing words, always truthful. He taught hard life lessons to all, eased by his dark, humble sense of humor.
During the day, he worked as a carpenter and was skilled at homebuilding and woodworking. In the evenings, Joseph enjoyed reading a good fantasy novel or sci-fi thriller, instilling the love of books to his daughter. Or, you could find him watching B movies and documentaries about the mysteries of life.
Having moved from Germany to the U.S. and around the country as an Army brat, he’d seen the world. But El Paso’s charming desert vistas and brilliant sunsets kept him. He graduated from Andress High School in 1975.
Joseph joins his soulmate Martha Kelly Welch; parents Jose Felix and Johanna; and siblings Evelyn and Steven in the afterlife.
Take a shot of whiskey in remembrance.
