Born on August 16, 1944, in the city of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. The oldest daughter of four children to Alfredo and Antonia Valdez. She grew up in Los Angeles, California where she lived most of her life and 25 years ago moved to El Paso Texas with her husband.
Josephine was married 57 years to her one and only husband, Carlos F. Halcon. Carlos and Josephine met in Lincoln Heights, California in the winter of 1963. Carlos completed four years in the Army and then worked at a gas station near Josephine's home. One brave day, he approached Josephine as she was walking by. They ended up together for 62 years.
She was the mother of Terri Cortez, Carlos Halcon, Alicia J. Martinez, James A. Halcon, and preceded in death by Maria E. Halcon-Natividad. Loving grandmother to Vanessa M. Natividad, Michael J. Cortez, Breann E. May, Amanda C. Halcon, Isabella V. Cortez, Andrew C. Halcon, Jacqueline A. Halcon, Layla J., Samantha R., and Sara J. Martinez. Proud Great-Grandmother to Adrianna C. Cortez, Zyaire L. & Quintavious L. May.
Josephine had a passion for gardening, cooking, & crafting. She enjoyed listening to music, connecting on social media with people she loved, and cherished the moments spent chatting on the phone with her sisters Alice Canal and Lupe Garcia.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. MST with a memorial service at 12:45 p.m. MST. at Funeraria del Angel Restlawn, 8817 Dyer Street, El Paso, Texas, 79904.
All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share in honoring her memory.
