It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother, Judith (Judy) Lee Behm, who passed away at the age of 81 on June 19, 2023 in El Paso, Texas. She was born to Marion and Francis Waldon in Syracuse, New York on February 21, 1942.
After graduating from high school, Judy attended and graduated from Marion College, a 2-year women’s college in Marion, Virginia. She completed her education at Western Michigan University, where she met her husband, Larry, a man that was supportive, loving, devoted, and selflessly cared for her throughout her long-term illness. Judy and Larry were married in Penfield, NY in 1965. Judy was an educator. For over 50 years, she taught elementary school aged children. A letter to Judy from a parent beautifully sums up her essence, “I have no words to thank you for all the things you’ve done for my son, for the respect and love he found in you.”
Judy had a wonderful sense of humor and her laughter was infectious. One of her passions was traveling. She planned wonderful cross country trips in the family motor home with an itinerary packed with visiting the wonders of the United States, a truly cherished gift. Judy enjoyed spending time with her friends and treasured her annual trip to La Jolla with her dear friend, Judy Huey. Most of all, she loved her family and instilled in her daughters strong values that have served them well.
Judy, the most loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, is preceded in death by her husband, Larry and leaves behind two daughters, Jennifer Behm and Lauren Seibel (Daniel), granddaughter, Emily Sansing (Michael), grandson, Liam Stanley, great granddaughter, Tinley Sansing, brother, George Waldon, and several nieces and nephews.
Judy was a beautiful, selfless, and compassionate wife, mother, and grandmother whose impact will be forever felt by her loving family. She was a role model and had so many admirable qualities; compassion, ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love deeply. She made an impact on many lives and will be forever in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Golden Park Adult Foster Care and Envision Hospice for their exceptional love and compassion.
We encourage you to share memories and photos of moments lived with Judy.
