Laura Marlene Epperson

Laura Marlene Stanfield was born on July 4, 1936, in Rising Star, Texas. She was the daughter of Eugene and Donnie Stanfield and sister to Edward, Margarette and James Stanfield.

Marlene grew up in Brownwood, Texas, and attended Howard Payne University. She met her soon-to-be husband, Herff Epperson, at freshmen orientation. Herff and Marlene married on August 24, 1956. Herff Epperson entered the pastorate and Marlene served as his faithful partner throughout his ministry. They pastored many churches all over Texas and started Skyline Baptist Church in El Paso.

Marlene’s greatest joys came from her home and taking care of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her family: her brother, James Stanfield; her son David and daughter-in-law, Lisa Epperson, and their children Courtney and Nathan; her son John and daughter-in-law, Melissa Epperson, and their children James and Steven; and her daughter, Sharee Epperson.

Marlene is predeceased by her parents, her brother Edward, her sister Margarette, and her husband of forty-four years, Rev. Herff Epperson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many people in her community.

Funeral service will be held at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery on June 3, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. . Arrangements provided by Funeraria Del Angel Restlawn.
