On April 15, 2026, our Heavenly Father called Manuel Cervantes Viera home. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Manuel is reunited with his beloved wife of 61 years Maria Elena. Manuel is also reunited with his father Lorenzo, mother Lorenza, brothers Raul, Lorenzo Jr., Jose, sisters Dolores, Esperanza, and great granddaughter Cecilia Rose. After graduating from Bowie High School in 1953, Manuel served his country in the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge from service, Manuel returned home to marry the love of his life Maria Elena, and began a long and dutiful career with the United States Postal Service until retiring in 1989. Afterwards, Manuel served the children of the Ysleta Independent School District in the Transportation Department until retiring in 2009. Manuel is survived by his sons David (Kimberly), Richard (Brenda), Rolando, daughters Sandra (George), Debra (Mike), grandchildren Matthew (Jessica), Samantha, David, Michael, Dylan, Crista, Tabitha, great grandchildren Raphael, Riza, Octavio, Tabitha Leia, and his beloved “puppies” Maddie and Pepper, who provided much love and joy in the twilight of his life. Manuel devoted his life to family and enlightened the lives of everyone he encountered. While we mourn our father’s passing, our hearts are comforted knowing he’s at eternal peace and rest.
