Our beautiful wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, Mrs. Socorro Cazares, was born Marcelina Socorro Rivera to Refugio and Maria Rivera. She was born in a small mining town of San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was the youngest of 8 children and had many fond memories growing up in this small community.
She always said that even though her family was poor, there was never a shortage of love and laughter in her home. Her father worked in the mines and her mother became a homemaker after marriage. She would often share her memories of attending school and playing games with childhood friends.
After she met and married Jesus J Cazares, they moved to El Paso, Texas with son Joel and had two more children, Jesus Jose, Jr and Judith. They made El Paso their home and were always determined to provide the best that they could for their family.
“Soco” was a loving mother and devoted wife and sister. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her contagious laughter and especially her love of music and reading. She was her children’s biggest supporter and always reminded them to be kind to everyone they met. She was at every basketball practice and band rehearsal and concert, always a proud mama.
She was a devout Catholic and instilled this faithfulness in her children. Although she came from a humble upbringing, she tried to help those in need when she could. Her faith helped her through troubled times and her loyalty to God and her faith never wavered. We are at peace knowing that she lived a full life, was loved by so many and now she is no longer in pain.
Socorro is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters, her son Joel Rivera, nephew Kyle Briones and Carlos Castillo.
Socorro is survived by her husband, Jesus Jose Cazares; daughter, Judy (Roger), son, Jesse; granddaughters, Rochelle (Manuel), Chantelle, Diana, and Ava; grandson Roger D Jr.; great granddaughters, Italia, and Mireya; great grandson Santiago; sister Benigna Castillo of San Jose, California.
