Marcelo Gerardo Tapia

Marcelo Tapia age 86 of El Paso Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughters July 23rd, 2024 after a life richly lived. He was born January 16, 1938 in Mendoza Argentina, the land of Sun and good wine were he learned to play Bombo, Guitar, and Dance Argentinian Folklore. Before coming to El Paso he worked in New York where he met his wife of 48 years Virginia Butron. He came to El Paso, Texas where he established with his brother Angel, a leathercrafting shop and did work for Tony Lama and other large brand names. He also worked at Manheim Automotive and EPI American Auto Auction. He raised his family alongside his beloved wife Virginia amongst his Orchard of 119 trees enjoying Sunday asados, good music and wine.

Marcelo is survived by his wife, Virginia Tapia and 4 daughters, Tania, Marcela, Alma-Stephanie, and Susana Tapia. His legacy lives on with his 9 grandchildren, Pablo, Florencia, Imanol, Tristan, Ezra, Axel, Milan, Giovanni, and Aria. He is preceded in death by his parents, Angeles Perez Tapia and Alberto Tapia, as well as his siblings, Angel, Isodoro, Orlando, Isabel, and Dorita Tapia. Marcelo was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Estarás en nuestro corazón siempre hasta que nos podamos encontrar otra vez, “estarás conmigo en el paraíso” (Juan 23:43).

Marcelo's strong Argentinian character was known to all. It filled our lives and now leaves an enormous void in our hearts. Marcelo would always respond with “Con Mucho Amor” when thanked. To all of us who now thank him for sharing his life with us, I am sure he would respond:

“CON MUCHO AMOR.”

In remembrance, a gathering will take place on August 10th. Religious commemoration will be held at 2:00pm at 6255 Strahan Rd, El Paso, TX 79932, Followed by a Celebration of life at 5:00pm at Tom Mays Access, Tx, 79911. In commemoration of Marcelo, you can make a donation towards a fruit tree at Sierra Vista Growers (575-201-5064) in his name. Donated trees will be planted in Marcelo's orchard.
