Margaret Van Horn, age 86, of El Paso, TX, passed away Friday morning, January 26, 2024, at Vibra Life El Paso, where she had been a resident for three years. She was born August 8, 1937, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, to the late John R. and Elsie Slavinski.
Margaret resided in Phoenixville until 1991, when she and her husband, Ralph, moved to El Paso. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 59 years, Ralph Van Horn, her sister Dorothy, and brother John. She was happiest when she could cook and bake and share stories of band trips she and her husband took with the Phoenixville Area High School Band from 1974-1984. No one can forget that she could come up with anything from her purse that you needed! Margaret also loved her TV, which was on from the time she got up until she fell asleep. She could tell you everything that was going on in the world. Of course, everyone knows she was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan! She was a “second mom” and “second grandmother” to numerous families in the Phoenixville area and El Paso.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Belgie (William), Susan Holt (Gloria), and Ellen King; five grandchildren, David, Ellen, Jason, Jessica, and Joshua; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Vibra Life El Paso and Gentiva Hospice staff for their loving care of our Mom, Grandmom, and Great-Grandmom.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Funeraria Del Angel Restlawn Funeral Home at 8817 Dyer St. El Paso, Texas 79904, with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 9 a.m. at Christ the Savior Catholic Church.
