Maria Elena Bustillos, age 70, from El Paso, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. She was a well-known educator. She was a librarian at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, worked for YISD and retired from Fabens H.S. She was considered a second mom to many, always offering open arms, heart, mind, home, and prayer. She was an active member of the catholic community at Santa Lucia and St. Thomas of Aquinas.
Survived by her husband of 48 years, Manuel David Bustillos Sr., daughter Wendy Marie Bustillos (Chris Phelps), son Manuel David Bustillos Jr. (Stephanie), daughter Xochilt Marie Zinn (Chris Zinn), son Joe Philip Bustillos (Lillian). Granchildren: Kilee H. Bustillos, Charlize A. Bustillos, Hailey Grace Zinn, Joseph Christian Zinn, Josefine Jeanette Bustillos, & Cyan Kahlia Bustillos. Sister Maria Baeza (Ramon), Brother Inez Beltran (Rosa). She was preceded by her parents Josefina & Refugio Beltran, sisters Veronica, Rosa, Ramona, brothers Jesse and Valentine.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 5-9 pm. at Kastor-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home at 8817 Dyer St., rosary at 7p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Santa Lucia Catholic Church at 518 Gallagher at 10 a.m., interment to follow at Evergreen East Cemetery.
