Ma Del Carmen Blanco Peón born in Asturias, Spain in 1927, and a longtime resident of Thomas Manor, has joined her husband José Ramón Arturo Peón in heaven. Her beautiful voice filled the walls of Our Lady of Sorrows church for years. A talented seamstress, her hand-made sequence gowns can be seen in many wedding and quinceañera photos throughout El Paso. She was grandma to the many neighborhood children she helped raise as well as to her own Carla (Billy & Gavin Vaughn), Sophie (Ignacio & Penny Rodriguez) and Clarissa. Her memory lives on in her son Manuel Arturo Peón (Martha Leyva), daughters Sally (James Woods) and Carmen (Humberto Porras). Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 23 from 9:30am-12:30pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home with a vigil to follow from 12:30-1:30pm. Funeral Mass is also on Wednesday, March 23 at 2:00pm at San Antonio De Padua. Services are under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina 598-3332.
