Carmen was the devoted wife of Peter Montoya and the loving mother of Rick (Denise) and Cassandra. She was a proud grandmother to Ricky and Franky, with whom she shared countless joyful moments. Carmen was also a loving sister to Rosa, Marta, Alicia and Irma, and a dear friend to many.
Carmen worked in the Technology Department of the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) for 28 years. She was the very first Programmer to be hired when the Technology Department was created at EPISD. While at EPISD, she held the positions of Programmer, Systems Analyst, and Business Systems Manager. Her coworkers and dear friends shared that they will most miss her hearty laugh. They will forever treasure the memories of the Christmas concerts she coordinated where she would play the violin and the cookie baking gatherings she hosted in her home every year.
Carmen found immense joy and happiness in her retirement years by embracing her role as a grandmother. She was a constant presence in her grandchildren’s lives and enjoyed being a part of all they were involved in. From attending their school activities to days spent playing with them or teaching them how to cook and bake, she found joy in it all. She especially loved watching Ricky and Franky play sports. Whether at the baseball field or watching them on livestream, she was their biggest fan and cheerleader.
Carmen had a passion for baking and enjoyed sharing that passion with others. Her kitchen was often filled with the warmth of her love and the aroma of her baking creations. Many family members will cherish the memories of baking with her during visits to her home.
Above all else, Carmen treasured spending time with her family, who were the center of her world. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her legacy of love and kindness bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
Carmen is preceded in death by her parents Merced and Maria L. Espinoza.
