Maria Antonieta Gonzalez

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Maria (Toni) Gonzalez on June 5. 2025. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was born in El Paso on October 22, 1947 to Raul and Raquel Mendoza. She was the eldest of 4 children, Raquel (Jose), Lupita (Nick) and Richard (Laura). She was a 1966 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and a proud 1999 graduate of El Paso Community College with her Psycology Degree. On October 2, 1966, she became the wife of Airman James Richard Gonzalez, her high school sweetheart. They wer married 58 years. They were blessed with their daughter Bonnie in July 1967, and their son James Jr. in November 1971. Toni was blessed with four grandchildren, Spencer, Zoe, Shane, and Noah. She was blessed with two great in laws, Brian (Bonnie) and Munich (James Jr.). She was employed by the Texas Dept. of Health for 25 years in Sierra Blanca, Tx and El Paso where she retired. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by those who knew her Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, July 11, at Hillcrest Funeral Home on Carolina from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
