Maria del Refugio Navar (Cuca), 91 entered into the Kingdom of her Heavenly Father on December 27th, 2014 to be reunited with her loving husband, Adalberto Navar (Beto), and numerous brothers and sisters. Cuca was born on September 1, 1923 in the small ranching community of Herreras, Durango, Mexico to Alfredo and Edmunda Corral de Herrera. In her early twenties she migrated to Juarez. She married her loving husband Adalberto Navar on October 5th, 1950 in El Paso, Texas. Cuca and Beto were married for 55 years.
Cuca and her husband, along with her husband’s nine siblings and their spouses, were involved in the ranching, farming, and dairy industries in El Paso County and Northern Chihuahua, Mexico. Of greater importance to Cuca was her devotion to our Lord, and his son Jesus Christ. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, and served in several volunteer roles in the Church. She belonged to several parishes throughout her life which included San Antonio de Padua, St. Pius and St. Raphael’s Catholic Church.
While living with her daughter, Martha, near the end of her earthly life she attended St. Matthews Parish. After our Lord, she cherished her family, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Her unconditional love and caring ways will be missed by all of them.
Cuca is survived by a large family which includes her children: Connie Clark (Bob), Alfred Navar (Emma), Martha Rochford (Denis), Bert Navar (Debbie), Hector Navar (Elva), and her very dear niece Alicia Salcido. Grandchildren include: Ryan Gentry, Joe Gentry, Erin Rystad, Emily Rochford, Mary Rochford, Emma Navar, Andria Navar, Aaron Martinez, Amy Avina, Christine Hernandez, Tim Navar and David Navar. Great grandchildren are Briana Avina, Isabella Avina, Sadie Rystad, Gage Rystad and Chiara Hernandez.
We would like to thank Cuca’s dear confidants and caregivers Ms. Eva Tehuastle and Ms. Emma Marin. Cuca’s family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to El Paso Hospice for their kindness and support during the last months of Cuca’s life.
