In 1987 Maury married Thelma Brafford. He was proceeded in death by his wife Thelma, father Rubin Cohen, Mother Lena and son Michael. He is survived by his stepson Dennis Brafford and granddaughter Kirsteen Brafford.
Born in El Paso, Texas, he graduated from El Paso High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corp to defend his country in WWII, after basic training he was sent to Pacific Theatre in 1944 to invade Japan. The war ended before he arrived.
He joined the Arthur Murray Show and danced in New York City and Los Angeles for a few years. When Arthur Murray opened a dance studio in El Paso, he became an instructor, later to become manger of his father's Levi's Denim Jeans Manufacturing plant.
Maury joined the El Maida Shrine Temple in 1951 where he spent 76 years and later become Director of the Drum and Bugle Corp., during his 50 years as Director of the Drum and Bugle corp. won numerous State and National contests. In the year 2020 Maury became Potentate of El Madia Shrine.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas.
A graveside service for Maury will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
