

Miguel Alfredo Grijalva was born on October 19, 1946 in San Jose, California, and was a beloved resident of El Paso, Texas until his peaceful passing on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in which he was surrounded by his loved ones. He was a lifelong Catholic who found strength and peace in his church and the Lord.
Miguel served his country with honor in the 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968, earning a Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Marksman (Rifle), and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He served as the past Vice President of America Robert E. Chisholm Chapter 844 in El Paso where he also served as a commander of the Color Guard. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Post 844. Following his military service, he dedicated 25 years to an accomplished as a Detective with the El Paso Police Department, protecting his community with integrity and valor. His exceptional skills extended beyond law enforcement, as he also served a personal bodyguard to many individuals , including celebrities.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Miguel was a certified personal trainer and earned multiple black belts in various martial arts disciplines. His passion for fitness, discipline, and self defense inspired many. He led by example, always striving for personal growth while encouraging others to reach their full potential
Miguel will be remembered not only for his professional achievements , but also for his deep love for his family and unwavering loyalty to those he cared for. His resilience , courage, and kindness left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Miguel was preceded in death by his parents , Miguel Alfredo Grijalva and Candelaria Grijalva and his son Miguel " Mikey " Grijalva. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Maria Teresa Grijalva; his son Adrian Borunda and his wife Kathleen Joy; daughter Christina Grijalva ; grandchildren, Nathan Andrew Hardee, Lauren Brittany Borunda, Catrina Renee Ayala and Cameron Mark Zarate.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 9pm Thursday, October 17, 2024 with a Vigil at 7:00 pm at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 N Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas 79936. Mass of Christian Burial will Friday, October 18, 2024 at 9:15 am at St.Stephen Catholic Church, 1700 George Dieter Dr, El Paso, Texas 79936. Rite of Committal will follow at Fort. Bliss National Cemetery with U.S Army and El Paso Police Department Honors.
