Moraima M Esquivel

Morayma “Nora” Morales Esquivel passed away peacefully on January 22nd, 2024 surrounded by her children in El Paso, Texas at the age of 59. She was born December 1st, 1964 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Fernando and Martha Morales. She moved to Pecos, Texas when she was 17 years old. In 1986, Morayma married Jose Alfredo Prieto Esquivel where they went on to have four children. While residing in Pecos, she successfully opened and operated a record store named Discoteca Mexico for 10 years. They later moved to El Paso, TX in 2000 where she would spend the rest of her life. Morayma was known by many names. She was a devoted and loving mother, daughter, sister, friend and grandmother, Tita. Her family meant everything to her.  

Morayma was known for her joyous personality and kind heart.  She never missed any of her children or grandchildren’s sporting or school events. She was present through them all. During school field trips, she was known as “the mom to bring the best snacks and food.” Always living life to the fullest and lighting up the room with her smile; she spent time with friends, family and her favorite pup companion, Jellybean – listening and dancing to music whenever she could. She was a selfless woman with a heart of gold that left an everlasting impression upon meeting her. Her presence, laughter, and moments big and small will be missed every day.   

Those left to cherish her memory include her four children: Caroline Esquivel, Claudia Esquivel-Ortega married to Rene, Jose-Alfredo Esquivel, Jose-Angel Esquivel married to Leslie, and two grandchildren Lily Renee Esquivel-Ortega, and Luca Ian Esquivel-Ortega. Also survived by her mother, three brothers, and two sisters. She is proceeded in death by her father and one sister.  

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 5pm-9pm with a prayer vigil at 6pm at Martin Funeral Home East. The following day, Tuesday, February 6th, the gathering will start at 9am at Martin Funeral Home East followed by a mass/service at Saint Mark’s Catholic Church at 11am.
