Paula "Gonzalez Vargas" Gonzalez de Gibbs

Paula I. Gibbs (Gonzalez-Vargas), passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the age of 100. She was a resident of El Paso, Texas. Mrs. Gibbs was a homemaker and enjoyed tending to her garden, especially her rose bushes. Paula was born in Chihuahua, Mexico and was the daughter of Governor Aureliano S. Gonzalez. After his death, at the hands of Pancho Villa, the family relocated to El Paso around the year 1915.She was preceded in death by her siblings: Carmen, Victoria, Aureliano, Alejandro, Benjamin and Abraham. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Carmen Gibbs and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and great grand-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with Rosary at 7:00 PM at Harding-Orr & McDaniel Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The American Heart Association, 233 Mesa Hills Dr., El Paso, TX 79912, and Autism Speaks, 5455 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 2250 Los Angeles, CA 90036.
