

Ralph was always a dreamer with no limitations on what he could accomplish. He set goals and would always find a way to reach them in spite of any obstacles. While at Jefferson High, his natural talents as a musician and top trumpet player were recognized throughout the state of Texas. He formed the Majestics Band, which became very successful during the 1960s.
“Mr. Y” devoted his life as an influential educator in EPISD for 34 years as a teacher, counselor, Principal, and Executive Director. Upon retirement, he started his second career in GISD where he led Santa Teresa Elementary to nationally recognized Blue Ribbon status, a first for the district. His legacy will live on through all the students whose lives he touched, and all the family and friends he loved and by whom he was loved.
He leaves his wife of 39 years, Susan; his daughter, Major Emily; his son, Matthew; brother, Efren (Jenny) and family; daughters Laura, Patsy, Vivien and Angela, son Ralph; and grandchildren Katelynn, Jake, and Edie.
Visitation will be held at 5pm at Martin Funeral Home, 128 N. Resler on 12 September, with a Rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be on 13 September at St Patrick’s Church at 1:30 p.m.
