Ramon L. Cano, 91, passed away peacefully at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL, on Saturday, September 8, 2018. He was born on September 30, 1926 in El Paso, TX, and had formerly resided in West Melbourne, FL for the past two years with his son. Ramon was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of San Antonio Catholic Church. He retired from Southwestern Portland Cement company. Ramon enjoyed boxing in his youth, and loved playing baseball throughout his life. He had fond memories of playing baseball on Lionel “Leo” Forti’s teams. When he was no longer able to play he stayed involved by umpiring for many years. He was called “Ganga” by his close friends. Ramon will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jerry (Arline) Cano, Yolanda Cano, and Priscilla (Eleazar) Pavon. He will also be fondly remembered by his four grandchildren, Kara M. Goodenbery, Samuel R. Cano, Alina I. Goodenbery, John T. Cano, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ramon was predeceased by his former wife, Irene F. Cano, his father Felix Cano, his mother Refugio Leyva Cano, and his four brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be Friday, September 14, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 15, at 9:30 a.m. at San Antonio Catholic Church, 503 Hunter Dr. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Rd.
