Born September 4,1941, in Ysleta Texas. He was the eldest of 5 children.
God called him home on August 31, 2024 in El Paso, Texas.
Ramon’s beginnings were humble, having lost his father at the age of seven years.
He understood the great responsibility that lay in front of him.
His strong work ethic and willingness to learn began at a young age.
He quickly realized that his family needed his guidance, protection and support.
He helped to provide for his family in various ways. He worked picking cotton and onions for farmers in Ysleta. He shined shoes and washed dishes at a local café after school with his younger brother.
He recalled on how they would often request for his help and knew that working hard would get him places.
As he matured, he began his career as a land surveyor and continued until his retirement. He worked for various engineering firms in El Paso ending his career at Conde Engineering Inc.
He never sat idle and passed his strong worked ethic to his sons and helped shape their careers. He respected those who shared in his philosophy. He loved “Old Ysleta” immensely. He often shared memories of how Ysleta used to be.
He also enjoyed road trips to Marfa, Texas to visit mom’s family. He traveled to New Mexico and often visited those whom he had met in his younger years.
He had numerous friends and enjoyed shooting pool and having a cold beer while listening to and telling jokes to those around him.
The Dallas Cowboys lost a devoted fan. He supported them through thick and thin times. His claps and shouts during a game will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Lyra Mae, sons Ybar and Ramon Jr. He also leaves behind younger brother Felipe and sister Francis Jaquez. Ramon will be missed by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins as well.
God called dad home after a lifetime of experiences, challenges, and victories. Dad went peacefully with his sons at his side and holding mom’s hand.
We will miss you dearly, dad. Don’t worry, we’ll take it from here. We know that you will be with us until we see each other again one day.
God bless you, Apa
