Randy was born June 19, 1955, to Ralph "Dutch" and Lucille McClelland, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Randy was a gifted athlete growing up, excelling at both hockey and golf. But golf was his true passion. He went on to play golf for the University of Michigan, and was proud to be a Wolverine letterman.
He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Patricia, whom he affectionately called “Poodle.” He loved to travel with her on cruises to all parts of the world. Some of his favorite adventures were to the UK, where they were twice able to attend the Open Championship.
Randy had a 40+ year career as an independent insurance salesman. He prided himself on providing personalized service to his clients, but more so on providing a comfortable life for his family through his work. He enjoyed the enterprising nature of his career in addition to the flexibility that it afforded him.
He loved being around his family and especially loved being a “Papi” to his grandchildren. He and Patricia were blessed with six grand babies in eight years, and he was overjoyed with the news that two more were on the way.
Randy was a generous man who wouldn’t hesitate to help when someone needed it. His silly sense of humor was always admired for its ability to lift the room, especially the little ones. He also loved talking to anyone that would listen, and certainly never met a stranger. Randy is forever loved and will be greatly missed.
Randy is survived by his wife, Patricia (Trickett), his children, Scott (wife Rochelle), Michael (wife Katie); grandchildren Parker, Elaine, Sierra, MJ, Foster and two little blessings arriving this summer; his brother, Rick McClelland (wife Anne); his sister, Maureen Johnston (husband Jerry); sister-in-Law Jo Ann Henderson (husband Lew); brother-in-law Terry Trickett (wife Ginger) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ralph "Bud" McClelland, and his granddaughter, Dylan Hailey McClelland. Services will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home West, 5054 Doniphan Dr. El Paso, TX 79932 on Saturday, March 18, 2023. A Viewing will begin from 1pm - 3pm with Memorial Services at 3pm. Friends and family are invited to join in the celebration of his life. Randy will be laid to rest in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
