Raquel Torres

Raquel Torres, a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, was granted heavenly peace on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She passed away at the age of 72 in El Paso, Texas, due to complications from diabetes.

Raquel dedicated her life to serving others. She was a devoted caretaker to her mother, Esther, and her uncle, Arturo "Turi" Federico, and she helped raise many of her nieces and nephews with immense love and generosity. Professionally, she served her community in the Admitting departments at Southwestern General and Providence Memorial hospitals.

Known for her compassionate spirit, Raquel was a woman of deep faith who prayed daily for her family, friends, and community. She was a talented cook and found great joy in hosting family gatherings and catering parties.

Raquel is preceded in death by her mother, Esther Valenzuela Lopez; her aunt, Carmen Valenzuela; her sister Bertha "Vera" Rodriguez; her uncle, Arturo Federico; her brother, Richard Valenzuela; her cousin, Estella Porras; and her niece Stacy Michele Betancourt. She is survived by her brother, Robert Lozano (Rosa); her sister, Maria Isabel Crowe; her cousin, Mary Betancourt (Ted); and many godchildren, nephews, nieces. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial gathering for Raquel will be held Friday, September 19, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A rosary will occur Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A chapel mass will occur Friday, September 19, 2025 at 12:00 PM, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915.
