Richard S. Blankenship

Richard S. Blankenship, 75, passed away on February 23, 2011. He served in the United States Army for 22 years. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 36 as well as Disabled American Veterans.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda D. Blankenship, sons, Richard E. (Judy), Bruce A. (Karen), Ronald D., Don J., daughters Paula J. Smith (Chuck), Mary L. Rayos, and Susan M. Burkey (Jeff), his step daughter, Teri N. Sears and step son, Michael Sears, his sisters, Joyce Ann and Rosemary Blankenship, his brother, Bill Blankenship, his aunt, Kay Kirksey, as well as eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, A. O. Blankenship, his mother, Ethel Rogers, his stepfather, Clarence E. Rogers, his brother, Earl D. Blankenship, and his son, David E. Blankenship.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Martin East. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with interment to follow.
