Born and raised in El Paso, Robert dedicated over 30 years of his life to education, beginning his career as a teacher and coach before rising through the ranks to become a principal, central office administrator, and eventually the Assistant Superintendent of Support Services for San Elizario ISD. He was deeply committed to this community and the thousands of students and educators he guided along the way.
A proud alumnus of Bel Air High School and the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), Robert carried his Highlander and Miner spirit wherever he went. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, a passionate collector of sports memorabilia, a lover of eclectic music, and a self-proclaimed sticker fanatic.
Robert was a survivor in every sense of the word—overcoming cancer and a lung transplant with strength, humor, and grace. His resilience was matched only by his heart, and those lucky enough to know him will remember his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering loyalty.
Robert was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and teacher—roles he held with pride and purpose.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Juanita Longoria and his brother Remy Longoria and is survived by his loving wife, Lydia Longoria; son, Robert Webb Longoria III(Lizet Lopez Longoria); daughter, Lisa Marie Longoria(Gabriel Payan); and his cherished grandchildren, Leah Longoria, Ian Longoria, and Marie Alora Payan. He also leaves behind a large extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, ex students and dear friends who will miss him dearly.
We’d to like to express our gratitude to the Norton Thoracic Transplant Team in Phoenix for the care they gave Robert over these past few years.
