Good Morning to all.
I cannot say I knew Mr. Payan.  However, I have had the privilege of knowing Sylvia Pena for 16 years.  She is a beautiful person and a great teacher.  I believe this was made possible by a nurturing childhood.  Therefore, in my opinion Mr. Payan and Mrs. Payan provided the best for Ms. Pena.  Which has been reflected in the way she has raised her boys and her teaching.  GOD bless this family.

My grandfather was a great, hardworking and honest man who never took the easy way out. He served his country and his family; a true American. He had an infectious positive outlook on life and touched so many lives in the process. He was the friendliest, most social person I have ever known and could strike up conversation with anyone. He was humble, a faithful husband, and a lover of the simple, good things in life, like all kinds of food, movies, going on rides around town with grandma, being around others, and being home in his casita.



His hard work inspired my mother to be the first in her family to go to college. He also helped raise me and my brother, stepping in to be our dad, from teaching my brother how to shave to running around town to get me medicine when I got sick while my mother worked to taking care of me while my mother was still at work. I won't forget the time grandpa tried to show me how to use the monkey bars at the park, or those many times on our summer vacations across the country when my grandpa stood guard, protecting my brother and I, making sure we didn't wander off as kids tend to do.



On behalf of my mother, Sylvia Payan Pena, brother, Andrew Pena Jr., and I, we would like to thank ALL the family and friends who showed up to my grandfather's services, as well as those who sent many phone and guest book messages, cards, and flowers. They say you know how well respected you are by the number of people who show up to your funeral and/or extend warm regards after your death. My grandfather was in good company at his services, and I couldn't be more proud of, and inspired by, the impact he had on so many people. Love you, Grandpa (aka my guapo).



MY deepest sympathies go out to you and your family.  May the memories of your loved one, give you comfort in knowing he will always be with you in your hearts and mind.  God Bless you and comfort you.

My cousin, Romancito, was always kind, cheerful and had a zest for life. I have memories of him and Lucy dancing at our house when I was very young.  Romancito was such a help to our family by being a Eucharistic Minister at my brother Larry's funeral Mass.  Siempre procuraba a su tio Nando, my father. 

Romancito may you rest in the light and eternal love of Christ. Prayers and Peace, Comfort and Love to Lucy and the family.  Jesus, We Trust In You.
