She passed away from natural causes at Del Sol Hospital in El Paso, Texas.

She was born in Calera, Zacatecas, Mexico to Marcelina Reyes and Pedro Ortiz, Sr.

She retired from Levis Strauss Company after over 25 years on the job.

She was very active in the Catholic Church. She lived in Uruguay and Brazil and enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed doing charity work, crocheting, knitting, cross stitching, and making crafts.

She is survived by her children Gabriela Torres Nolasco (Francisco J. Nolasco, Sr); Enedina Torres; Ernesto Torres, Sr (Graciela), Rosa M. Torres, and Eduardo Torres, Jr+

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Francisco J. Nolasco, Jr (Ruth Gutierrez) and their daughters Sofia and Isabel; Gabriel R. Nolasco (Valerie) and their daughters Emilia and Natalie; Pamela Torres Pedigo (Jason) and their daughters Norah and Metta; Priscilla Torres; Ivan D. Torres (Diana Gomez) and their daughter Julez; Ernesto Torres, Jr (Michael Martin); Brandi N. Torres; and Eduardo Torres, III.

Her Brothers: Ricardo Reyes, Rogelio Ortiz, Pedro Ortiz (Maria Luisa), and J. Albert Ortiz. And many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased in death by her parents Marcelina Reyes (2011) and Pedro Ortiz, Sr.; her son Eduardo Torres, Jr (2003); and her brother Florencio Aguilar.

The services will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home; 1060 N Carolina Dr, El Paso, TX 79915.

Thursday September 25, 2025, from 5 PM to 9 PM. A rosary being held at 7 PM.

The funeral mass will be held at St Pius Church, 1050 North Clark Dr, El Paso, Texas 79905 at 10:30 AM.

Interment will be held at Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery at 401 S Zaragosa Road, El Paso, Texas 79907 at 12 PM (noon).

She was a single mother who encouraged her children to study and work hard. She often said to them “No voy a volver de la tumba para hacerlo por ti. Aprende a hacerlo.” In English: I am not coming back from the grave to do it for you. Learn to do it.
