LaVonne was a very special person and always had a smile in spite of her health issues.  We tried to have lunch once a month with 6 other wonderful women and she was full of vim and vigor.  We spent many hours discussing her health and how bravely she accepted all its hinderances.  She is ina much better place and probably playing bridge!  We miss her  very much

I had the pleasure of working with Lavonne as a new counselor at El Paso High School.  She took me under her wing and taught me well the tricks of the trade.  She had a true passion for counseling and for her students.  She was a proud, devoted Mom to her sons.  Lavonne was always a pleasure to be around.  I thank her for her guidance and support.  Rest well, my counselor friend❤️

It is with great sadness that I honor your beloved Mother. She was an inspiration to many people and will always remain in my heart, I will miss her guidance and our conversations. She was a true lady in spirt and grace. She was inspirational  in her faith and love for God.

LaVonne was a very special person and a very dear friend.   I met her when I started attending Western Hills UMC.  I was widowed with a teenaged daughter.  LaVonne was very welcoming and made sure I was included in many of the church activities.  She was a single mom raising two boys.  When things got difficult for me, I would look at LaVonne and just knowing her and how she was handling her situation, it inspired me to feel like I could follow in her path and everything would be okay.  We remained close friends even after I left El Paso.  I visited her in El Paso four years ago and she was the perfect hostess.  She was very helpful in motivating me to finish a long overdue task.  I am so grateful that she was a part of my life.  She will be greatly missed.  Her family has my deepest sympathy in their loss.

I have fond memories of visiting LaVonne.  One day when I visited her, she was tutoring her granddaughter.  She displaced love for her as she taught her how to read.  LaVonne was a loyal member of Western Hills UMC and our UMW.   the last time I visited her in the hospital, she told me she was ready to go to her eternal home.

We were so sad to hear of LaVonne's passing.  Bill and I (Pat) and our family knew LaVonne through Katie Kelley.
We first knew her from our trip to Ireland.  What a wonderful and caring woman!  She was willing to try anything including The Blarney Stone!
Most recently she visited here near San Antonio and met our daughter and her family.  The grandchildren were very taken with her and all the books she brought them.
We will miss seeing her and talking to her from time to time.

LaVonne will be missed by so many of us. I met her at Western Hills, she was a wonderful friend of my Mom, Roberta Harrison, who passed away two days after LaVonne did. I'm sure they're sharing a laugh. I always enjoyed LaVonne's company, she was such a caring, generous person. Heaven gained a couple of angels that week. My love and wishes for peace to her family. 

Just found out about the Home Going of LaVonne.  Even though it's been 38 years since I moved from El Paso, I still think so fondly of her!  She was a very special Lady in the congregation of Western Hills United Methodist Church.  We shared a lot of time back then and stayed in touch. I always looked forward to hearing from her and finding out how her sons were doing. She maintained a positive attitude through all the illness and surgeries she experienced; always such a great role model. Till we meet again, love you LaVonne !!


When I first met Lavonne, she and I were teaching ESL at Guillen Middle School. Although I left El Paso we always remained in touch. She was such a kind, thoughtful friend. We had always planned to get together the next time I went to El Paso but now I will only have the memories.

We met Lavonne in I think in 1966 camping in France.   This was followed by them visiting and staying with us in London and later with us staying with her and the boys in El Paso.    Exchanging news over the years we have fond memories of her kindness and love for her Church.   So sad to hear of her death.

LaVonne was a wonderful friend and mentor.  She helped me survive my first year of teaching with her wisdom and wit. That was over 50 years ago and we still kept in touch.  The world has lost one of its brightest stars.  Heaven is rejoicing. 

LaVonne was an important part of my life, more than friend, closer than family, wisest woman I ever knew.  I imagine she is singing in a heavenly choir now!

LaVonne was dear part of our ladies group that met for lunch every month, She was kind and thoughtful and always caring about every one else.. Always had a smile and a hug for all.  She will surely be missed. R.I.P dear lady.  Love, Barbara Douglas 

My dear LaVonne. Tho we haven't  seen each in a very long time I thought of you often. My friend, my neighbor, my coffee clatch go to. We shared raising our boys and their shenanigans. LaVonne was a wonderful friend, great traveling companion, vivid story teller, avid game player who excelled at Scrabble, bridge, and crossword puzzles. 



She was devoted to her church.  She enriched the lives of others and drew powerfully from her interactions and  the many wonderful experiences with her church family. La Vonne was called to serve and dedicated many hours weekly in that capacity. 

LaVonne was a kind caring loving woman!
Always  a smile on her face and NEVER judgement.

We met at CURVES !
She was part of the original Red Hat Group.

Her love of her grandchildren was known far and wide.

Ruby and Clara her red head baby girls, were the apple of her.

Her grandson always gave her a giggle!

Her voice of reason will be missed!
