Ruth was a lifelong resident of El Paso, graduating in 1961 from Thomas Jefferson High School. She married Julian Viera Sr. in 1964 and had two Children. In 1970, Ruth returned to school to get certifications in typing and shorthand for a position at EPISD. She retired from EPISD after 36 years as a secretary, with most of those years spent at the Risk Management Department.
Ruth will be remembered for her loving devotion to family, her insistence on good manners and education, fashion sense, the football scar on her knee, and being the north star of the family.
Ruth is survived by her children, Veronica and Jay (wife Lety), grandchildren Mandy (husband Frankie) and Gene, and great-grandchildren Nathen and Samantha. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the care she received from Gloria Ortega, Elara Caring Hospice Center, and Edge Rock Foster Home. A visitation for Ruth will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A rosary will occur Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 6:00 PM, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A funeral mass will occur Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Saint Mark Catholic Church, 11700 Pebble Hills Blvd, El Paso, Texas 79936. A graveside service will occur Friday, August 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Evergreen East cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Andres Viera Jr., Rick Orozco, Nathen Julian Sanchez, David Gonzales, Manny Rocha and Javier Holguin .
