She was met in heaven by her daughter Kimberly Walker, her mother Alline, father Jack Dempsey and step-mother Leticia, her brother Jack Edgar and brother in law Bill Walker, along with so many others she has loved throughout her years. She is survived by her husband, Bobby “Bob” Walker, her brother George Edgar (Sharon), her “sisters in love” Joanne Walker and Juanita Edgar, her two sons, Kevin Walker and Robert “Bobby” Walker (Kassi), and her six grandchildren, Jared Sanders, Dillon Sanders, Shaleigh Walker, Kenton Walker, Rhett Walker, and little Eden Walker.
On October 20th, 1939, the world became a little bit brighter. On this day, Ruth Ann Edgar was born in Kountze, Texas. She attended Warren Highschool, where she met the love of her life, Bobby L Walker at the age of 17. They were inseparable until the day she took her last breath. She married her sweet Bobby two years later at age 19. The two happy in love and strong in their faith began to navigate through life together. Ruth worked for a time at a bank, which would cultivate her passion for bookkeeping/ accounting throughout her life. They spent about $10 per week on groceries, and to them, that was all that they needed. On December 21st, 1960 they brought a beautiful baby girl into this world, her name was Kimberly Ann Walker. Ruth loved being a mother and it came so naturally for her to nurture others. With all their love to give, three years later they welcomed their first son, Kevin Lynn Walker, and three years after him, their youngest son Robert Kent Walker. Ruth was very active in her childrens’ lives and attended every sports function. The family also loved to travel all over the world and continued this tradition with their grandchildren. These experiences created memories that would last a lifetime.
Ruth was involved in many non profit organizations and projects within her community. She had so much love and grace to share with this world. She was involved with the Young Matrons, PEO, SPJ, and the Symphony Guild passionately. Ruth was a god- fearing woman and music brought joy to her soul. In her younger years, she played the organ at her local church. Up until her final days, when a beautiful song came on, she would light up. She loved to sing and dance with her sweet love Bob. Ruth was someone that could light up a room with her presence. Everyone she met, she impacted them in some way and she considered each of them her friend.
Ruth loved being a grandmother, she was our Mimi and she wore that title with such pride. The passion she had for her childrens’ activities carried over to her grandchildren. Our successes were her greatest accomplishments. Ruth loved her bright colors, she loved her roses, and appreciated all of god’s creations. Most of all she loved her sweet husband Bob, her puppy Desi, her friends, her children, and her grandchildren. She is missed beyond words. Our angel on earth, is now our angel in Heaven.
The Celebration of Life for Ruth Walker will be held at Jesus Chapel West, 111 W. Sunset Rd, on Thursday, May 12th at 6pm.
