Salvador Rivas III was called by our Lord to join him in heaven on August 30, 2022. Salvador was born on May 26, 1949, to Salvador Rivas Jr. and Bertha Rivas. He achieved his Eagle Scout and was a graduate of Burges High School. After high school graduation, he served his country in the Vietnam War with honor through the U.S. Navy. Upon his return, he graduated from the University of Texas El Paso and received his Master’s from Sol Ross University. He worked as an educator and assistant principal before his retirement in 2010. He is survived by his mother Bertha Rivas; son Salvador Rivas IV; daughter Ginelle Toledo and son-in-law Juan Toledo; grandchildren Antonio and Lila Toledo; Sister Terry Solis; Brother Eddie Rivas and sister-in-law Leonor Rivas; partner-in-life Margarita Hernandez.
Salvador was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, who never missed watching a game. He enjoyed off-roading the Colorado Rocky trails in his Jeep with family and friends. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He will truly be missed.
Visitation and Rosary will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., on Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 10970 Bywood Dr., on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Rd., at 10:30 a.m.
