Simon M. Garcia Sr.

Simon was born the morning of January 5, 1933 in Corpus Christi, Texas and will join his parents waiting for him in Heaven; Guadalupe Mendez and Francisco Garcia. Simon is survived by his loving wife Raquel Flores Garcia.

Simon and Raquel were married on June 19th 1960, where they lived in El Paso 55 years and raised a family together. Simon served his country honorably in the US Army serving in the 496th anti-aircraft battalion in the Korean conflict. As a civilian Simon was an enthusiastic salesman. An exceptional storyteller, he enjoyed sharing anecdotes of past hunting excursions. Simon was happiest in the great outdoors: hunting in Big Bend with his boys, fishing, and sport shooting with his daughter and son-in-Law. Simon savored the precious moments and company of his affectionate family.

Simon leaves behind loving memories to be cherished by his siblings, Francisco and Refugio Garcia; four children; Simon Jr., Raymond, Ricardo and his wife Kathleen, Rosalinda and her husband Robert ‘Hoss’ Horstman. Grandpa Garcia was blessed with ten grandchildren: Veronica, Ashley, Elena, Valerie, Aaron, Isaac, Reese, Jacquelyn, John, Sammy.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 27th from 5-9PM with Rosary at 7PM at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell, 8817 Dyer. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 28th at 10AM at Guardian Angel, 3021 Frutas. Burial following at Restlawn Cemetery on Dyer.
