Joe Thomas Leroy "Tommy" Herrera passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 to a better place in Heaven. He was a loving dedicated father and a devoted husband, who enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with his family. Never would turn anyone down when they needed him. He was our protector. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served with the Big Red One 1st Infantry Division in the United States Army. He was 75 years old. He had a lifetime membership with the NRA, Ysleta Gun Club and Arroyo Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and shot in multiple competitions throughout his years. He worked at Southwestern Bell until retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents Zachary and NaOma Herrera and his sisters Ginger, Madean, and Lucille. He is survived by several family members. Brothers Zachary and Ray. Sister Debbie. Wife Cecilia of 33 years, Sons Matthew (Bubba) and his wife Gracie, Larry and wife Lisa, Terry, Gabe and wife Christina, Andre and wife Namiko, Randy and wife Bea, Mike and wife Melissa, daughter Stacy and Husband Daniel and 23 grandchildren. Visitation will take place Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Dr. with a vigil at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass will take place Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Cristo Rey at 10:30am with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery East with military honors.
