Valentin Hernandez

Valentin Hernandez, known to many as Val, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 50. He was born on November 22, 1975, and spent much of his life rooted in El Paso, Texas, while also living and working for periods in New Mexico and California.

Val was preceded in death by his father, Luis Hernandez, and his older brother, Louis Hernandez. He is survived by his mother, Juana “Janie” Hernandez; his siblings, Jon Hernandez and Edith “Edy” Cardona; his brother-in-law, Rick Cardona; his nephew, Ricky Cardona; his niece, Alyssa N. Cardona.

Val spent the majority of his working life in the casino industry, a field that reflected his charm, supportive presence, and natural ability to connect with people.

To those closest to him, Val was deeply loyal and carried a strong sense of dedication to those he loved. He will be remembered for his enduring devotion to his family and the bonds that guided him throughout his life.

A memorial service in his honor will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, located at 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX, 79915, on January 5, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Rosary Service will take place at the same location at 7:00 pm.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 8011 Williamette Ave, El Paso, TX, 79907, on January 6, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Following the Mass, a Graveside Service will be conducted at Mt Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX, 79907, at 2:30 pm.
