Wendy Adell Emlinger joined this world in Mt Pleasant Michigan on September 9, 1952 filled with a wonder and curiosity that led her to a passionate love of books and exploring the edge of imagination. She left this world too soon on September 5, 2024 still filled with optimism and curiosity.
Her bibliomania guided her to become a librarian at Socorro School District, where she spent her career shaping young minds and spreading her passion. She told the best stories at storytime, complete with character voices and dramatic pacing. She's known to have said, "I've been around books all my life, and I still love them dearly. There's no such thing as too many books. And the best thing about books is sharing them with others."
Outside of her work Wendy was a dedicated daughter, sibling, aunt, and friend. While she was the picture-postcard introvert, once she loved you, she loved you fiercely. She'd often spend her Friday nights at the mall and going to one of her favorite restaurants with friends.
Wendy adored collecting things! She had an entire room devoted to her books and regularly pursued her creative passions by painting portraits or miniature figurines for the role-playing adventures she undertook each Saturday night for many years.
Wendy enjoyed a quiet retirement watching television shows that made her laugh, especially old cartoons, assembling online jigsaw puzzles so the kitties couldn't play with the pieces, and reading to her hearts content surrounded by her fur babies.
Wendy was always authentic and true to herself. She had a kind heart and was one of the sweetest souls to share time on earth, forever taking in another kitten needing shelter and love. She was infinitely patient and could always be counted on to lend a hand, even if she was notoriously late showing up!
Wendy is survived by her sister Audrey, and brother-in-law Bill, her niece and nephew-in-law Katie and Christopher and their children Evie and Sammy, as well as Chris and Nicole who she loved as her surrogate niece and nephew.
