Maria Yolanda Avila, resident of Clint, Texas, passed away on February 5, 2021 at the age of 74. Many who were touched by her knew she fought for what she believed in and changed the lives of many through her strength and faith. Mrs. Avila was born March 11, 1946 to Antonio Claudio and Margarita Medrano Claudio of El Paso, Texas. She was the loving mother of five children and a devoted wife to Rodolfo Avila. Mrs. Avila was known in her community and amongst her loved ones as a loving, kind, and generous woman of enormous faith. Mrs. Avila served as a catechist and confirmation instructor. She was a Eucharistic minister as well as a St. Vincent de Paul volunteer food distributor within the San Lorenzo Catholic Church community. Mrs. Avila worked as a substitute teacher and bus monitor within the Clint independent school district. She also worked with Region 19 by helping low-income families locate food, shelter, and helpful community resources within the El Paso area. Yolanda Avila was a graduate of El Paso High School and received a certification in early childhood development. Maria Yolanda Avila’s accomplishments demonstrated her commitment of serving and giving to others. She also gave to the women of her community through church retreats and women’s bible study groups that she would help lead. Mrs. Avila is survived by her husband Rodolfo Avila, her five children Maria L. Avila, Monica Palafox, Rodolfo J. Avila and wife Blanca Leticia Avila, Raymundo Avila wife Maria D Avila and Joyce Rivera and husband Adrian Rivera. She also left behind nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nephews, nieces, siblings Rosa Claudio, Genoveva Claudio, Grace Awad, and Martin Claudio, and many other beloved family members.
