

He was a native of Hardin County, served in the National Guard, retired from Ft. Knox Civil Service as a Grounds Foreman and was a Farmer. He was a lifelong member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1455 in Elizabethtown. Eddie loved his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Joseph and Gertrude Thomas Thompson; his siblings, Louis Thompson, John Thompson, Romy Thompson, Bob Thompson, Edith Laughlin, and Betty Brumfield.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Geraldine Bryant Thompson of Cecilia; four children, Jackie Ford (Johnnie) of New Haven, Alan Thompson (Dawn) of Hodgenville, Charles Thompson of Cecilia, and Sharon Kennedy (Chris) of Cecilia; two brothers, William "Bill" Thompson (Jeanie) of Cecilia and Norbie Thompson (Bonnie) of Rineyville; two sisters, Imogene Prang of Seattle, WA and Rose Mary Ryan of Cecilia; a brother-in-law, Eugene Bryant of Arizona; his sisters-in-law, Judy Thompson and Mary George Thompson, both of Louisville; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Lynch (John), Amanda Hite (Chris), Robbie Thompson, Tyler Thompson (Haley), Nick Kennedy, Eric Kennedy, and Daniel Kennedy; and 9 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Ezra, Zach, Charlie, Emma, Sam, Brylee, Easton, and Carson.
The funeral is Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Burial follows in St. John Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and continue after 9 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
