

She was preceded in death by the beloved love of her life, Donald (Doc) Lane, whom she married on January 7, 1956. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and shared commitment.
She is survived by her devoted son, David Anthony Tork Lane; daughter-in-law, Mary Cardoza-Lane; six cherished grandchildren—Olivia, Alexander (Chelsea), Jeremy (Brittany), Violet (Garrett), Sandee, and Samuel; and seven great-grandchildren—Alice, Eleanor, Isaac, Jude, Iris, Ransom, and Jonas. She also leaves behind her loving sisters; Anne, Penni, and Kathy.
Born in California and raised in Loomis and later Wolf Creek, Oregon; Joyce spent much of her life in service to her community and her faith. She worked as court clerk for the City of Springfield before returning to school at Lane Community College in 1972. Here she earned two associate degrees in computer programming and data processing. This launched her into a distinguished career with Lane County, eventually serving as Chief Tax Officer.
Her devotion to her Catholic faith was unwavering. She served as a eucharistic minister and lector at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield, Oregon, St. John Neumann in Yuma, Arizona, and St. James in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, continuing her ministry up until her stroke.
Joyce will be remembered for her strong spirit, gentle presence, and profound faith. Her life was a reflection of grace and strength, and she leaves behind a family and community who were deeply touched by her love and example.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral Mass on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown, KY. Interment will be held in July (date to be determined) at St. John Neumann in Yuma, Arizona.
