
He was a native of Hardin County, served in the United States Army during WWII where he was stationed in the Philippines; and then retired after 30 years civil service in the Ft. Knox motor pool. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Louisville, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Quince and Sally Hatfield Johnson; sisters, Stella Hart, Corene Terry, Leona Dever and Maudie Calvert; and a step-brother, Verlin Breeding.
He is survived by his wife who was his childhood sweetheart for 72 years; Anna Louise Miller; son, Tony (Charlet) Johnson of Louisville; two daughters, Patsy (Ottie) Tucker of Big Clifty and Bonnie (Danny) Render of Louisville; eight grandchildren, Teddi Underwood, Lee Tucker, Michael Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Troy Johnson, Rodney Render, Todd Render and Melissa Scott; ten great-grandchildren, Rachel Preston, Austin and Kaylie Johnson, Dylan and McKenna Render, Danielle Anderson, Savannah Scott, Chandler, Cooper and Jackson Render; four great great-grandchildren, Breanna and Trenton Tucker, Jacob and Aubree Anderson.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. James R. Love officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and continue after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
