She was born in 1928 in Barren County, Kentucky, was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church for over sixty-five years, and was a homemaker. She served in her past as a six year-old Sunday School teacher. Helen was retired from Buckingham Condominiums, where she had worked as their
office manager for twenty years.
Her greatest joys in life were in the Lord and in her love for family. She enjoyed a night
out at Derby Dinner, family get togethers, or just listening to the Gaither's gospel music
in the quiet of her home. She enjoyed doing for others in life and appreciated the
outpouring of expressions of love through cards, calls and visits from family and friends
in her final days.
Helen is preceeded in death by her parents, Harry and Irene Magers; two sisters, Lillian Barry (Harold) and Mary Emma Skees (Mike).
She is survived by her devoted husband of seventy-three years, George Lee Cave; two children, Judy Merkley (Louis) and Larry Cave (Sharon); four grandchildren, Kim Jiranek (Marlin), Scott Merkley (Elizabeth), Drew Cave, and Justin Cave; four great-grandchildren, Sarah Jiranek, Jacob Jiranek, Campbell Merkley, and Cadie Merkley.
The funeral is Sunday, September 26 at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Emory Riley officiating.
Visitation will be 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial to follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that masks be worn for all services.
