
He was a native of Sturgis, Kentucky, and a teacher and football coach at Elizabethtown High School. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of VFW.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Meade Baird; parents, William and Rebecca Baird; and five siblings, Harold, Billy Ray, Bobby Lee, Mary Ellen, and Eddie Gayle.
He is survived by his son, Robin (Sandra) Baird of Magnolia; daughter, Kristie (Jeff) Brindley of LaFayette, Indiana; brother, Norval (Sondra) Baird of Henderson; three grandchildren, Shelby Everett, Cheyenne Baird, and Bryce Everett; one great grandchild, Bentley Baird; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Brother Chuck Pollard officiating. Burial follows at Magnolia Cemetery in Larue County.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Friday and continues after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Any former football players are invited to be honorary pall bearers.
