

She was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky, on April 5, 1935, to Edna and Carl Kamer, Sr. She was married to Dwight Sarver for 57 years before his passing in 2010.
Julia was an integral part of the family business, Sarver Trucking, with her husband. She was an active member and employee of St. James Catholic Church of Elizabethtown. She was previously active in Elizabethtown Jaycettes, Hub Town Twirlers Square Dance Club, and Hardin County Homemakers. She was very involved in her childrens’ schools, especially at St, James Elementary, and as band parent for Elizabethtown and East Hardin High Schools. She crocheted and knitted many projects for family and community organizations. Family was central to her life so she loved hosting family gatherings, the more the merrier, during which card games were notorious for breaking out. Until the last few years, she enjoyed having a large garden and sharing the harvest with others.
Julia was preceded in death by Dwight, her son, Teddy, her daughter Sandra Sarver McClain. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Mary McKay and Carolyn Thomas, her brother Carl Kamer, Jr, and 2 brothers who died in childhood.
Julia is survived by three sons, Keith (Debbie) Sarver of Elizabethtown, Tim (Tammy) Sarver of Vonore TN, and Shawn Sarver, U.S. Navy retired of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by three daughters, Brenda (the late Bill) Buchwald of Frankfort, Paula (Duc) Do, and Carrie Thompson both of Louisville; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three siblings, George (Carol) Kamer and Joyce (Joe) Grimes of Louisville, Edward (the late Kay) Kamer of Shepherdsville and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Clare Catholic Church, 152 Colesburg Road, Colesburg, Kentucky, at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College Street, Elizabethtown, on Friday September 20, 2024, from 4- 8 pm and at the church at 10:00 am before the funeral.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Mass of the Air, Warm Blessings Community Kitchen of Elizabethtown, and Hosparus Health Central Ky.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of Baptist Health Hardin Hospital and Hosparus Health Central Ky for their extraordinary care.
