Lola Edwards Gregory

She was born July 3, 1930 to Rufus and Ruby Edwards. Born and raised in North Carolina, she met the love of her life of 68 years, Bud Gregory, while he was stationed there in the United States Marine Corp. After marriage and the birth of their first child, they moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where their son was born. Eventually moving to Elizabethtown, Ky and with the help of their children, love, devotion and strong work ethic, opened their first fresh fruit market. Through these many years, they were active in Severns Valley Baptist Church.

Lola was also a founding member of the Hardin County Chapter of MADD and a former member of the Elizabethtown Woman's Club and various other civic-minded organizations.

Working side by side, raising their family and making wonderful friends along the way, they eventually opened and managed 8 BUD'S FRUIT MARKETS and 2 wholesale warehouses. BUD'S PRODUCE was home to Bud's Serve Fresh and Time Savers fresh cut produce. During this time, she was also instrumental in her husband's political career. Being a naturally friendly and vivacious person, she was also known for her strength and compassion for others.

Lola was preceded in death by her husband Chester William "Bud" Gregory Jr and their son, Chester William "Billy" Gregory III; her brothers, Dupree Edwards, Roland Edwards and Arthur Edwards.

She is survived by a daughter, Kay G Straney (Gene); Granddaughter, Melissa Straney Gregory (Jeff); and Grandson Gregory Straney (Melissa); 6 Great-grandchildren, Jey Gregory, Ryder Gregory, Harper Gregory, Emerson Gregory, Dupree Straney and Elbie Straney; and many friends and relatives.

The funeral is at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Visitation begins at 12:00 PM Noon on Saturday and continues until the time of service.

Interment will take place at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
