
He was born August 24, 1942 in the village of Hardscratch, Kentucky (Adair County) in the home of his grandparents, James Otha Miller and Nina Wesley Miller.
He was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Elizabethtown High School and Western Kentucky University. While at Western, he was a founding member of the Beta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. After graduation, Mo joined the Peace Corps before starting his career path.
Mo began his career at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where he designed and implemented a computer program in Braille for the blind which earned him the Air Force Civilian Achievement Award in 1968. He continued his career with RCA Computers as the Director of Sales of large main frame computers. His career led him to Salt Lake City, Cincinnati, Atlanta, and Indianapolis. He and his family settled in Philadelphia, PA where he continued his work in computer programming focusing on the insurance and the financial sectors with Worlco, Inc. and BHC Securities. Mo served as the Senior Vice President for BHC Securities until it was acquired by Fiserv Financial a multinational financial advisory company. He retired and returned to Elizabethtown in 2003 and started StoneWorks, Inc., a granite and quartz countertop provider.
Mo was committed to the Hardin County community. He served as the Commissioner and Secretary/Treasurer of the Hardin County Water District #2 for 16 years. He was also an advocate for small business and chaired the Lincoln Trail Workforce Development Board, was a founding member of the Lincoln Trail Venture Group and was a member of the board of directors of the Lincoln Trail Innovation Council Advisory Board. Through his love of history, Mo served as the Chairman of the Board for both the Elizabethtown Historical Preservation Commission and the Brown-Pusey House. During the 12 years he served as chairman of the Brown-Pusey House, he was instrumental in starting “Tavern in the Garden” a weekly music event held each summer.
Mo was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Lynn Miller, Sr. and Eleanor Wise Miller and his younger brother, Stewart Douglas Miller.
Surviving him are his wife of 59 years Kay Freeland Miller, their son Jeffrey (Andrea) of Philadelphia, PA, their daughter Stephanie of Elizabethtown and five granddaughters Olivia, Georgia, Claudia, Lizzy and Miller. Other family members include sisters-in-law, Dr Jennifer Freeland (Karen) of Delray Beach FL, Marti Knight of Louisville KY, Nora Miller of Raleigh NC, Brothers-in-law, David Freeland of Atlanta, GA and Al Freeland of Elizabethtown, KY and many nieces and nephews.
