She was born in 1929 to the late Everett Bailey and Beatrice Daugherty Bailey in Vine Grove which is now Fort Knox. Opal graduated in 1948 from Glendale High School and was a member of the Forever Young Club at St. James Catholic Church. She loved hummingbirds and was always ready with a smile. She loved hugs, dessert and bingo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ellis; her grandson, Cliff Ellis; her brother, Paul Bailey and sister, Faye Matthis.
Survivors include her children, Virginia (David) Hart, Johnny (Trish) Ellis, Donna (Dave) Hart, Larry (Lisa) Ellis, Myrna (Terry) Priest and Joe (Susie) Ellis; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
