Rita was born on August 16, 1950 to the late Alvis and Almeda Fulkerson in Sonora, Kentucky. She was a member of Little Clifty Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Robert Fletcher. Survivors include her husband, Colonel (Ret.) Calvin W. Miller Jr. of Elizabethtown; her son and two step daughters, Marty Carby (Melanie) of Big Clifty, KY; Kim Green (Greg) of Thompson's Station, TN; and Kelly Phillips (Billy) of Gallatin, TN. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Rita worked in the furniture industry. She was an assistant manager with with Evans Furniture and later manager of Furniture Liquidators in Radcliff, KY. She then accompanied her husband to Germany for a command assignment and traveled throughout parts of Europe.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all personnel at Baptist Health Hardin Oncology in Elizabethtown, KY and those at the University of Kentucky, Markey Cancer Center who provided exceptional care, compassion, and concern in Rita's battle with Mylodepastic Syndrome, a type of cancer and associated complications.
There will be a visitation for Rita on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 4pm - 8pm at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, KY. Visitation will resume on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 9am until 11am. Funeral Service is at 11am at the funeral home with a burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
