

He was a native of Elgin, Illinois, was a talented craftsman at Gibson Guitar, and a loving Husband, Father, and Papa.
He formerly attended Nashville Cowboy Church as a devoted follower of God, where he was saved and served God with all of his heart. He passed his knowledge on to his family and friends. Robert was also a master builder and handyman extraordinaire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Charles Messman and Caroline Schaaf; a brother, Kenneth Messman; uncles, Kenneth Schaaf and Raymond Schaaf; cousin, John Stringer; sister in-law, Linda Sarto; and a special Friend, Pastor Harry Yates.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Messman, whom he married on June 15, 1968; a daughter, Michele "Shelly" (Shane) Ryan; two sons, Tom (Amie) Messman and Tim (Dennise) Messman, all of Elizabethtown; a brother, Jerry (Dawn) Messman of Florida; a sister, Diane (Bill) Poll of IL; five grandchildren, Andrew Ryan, Emily Ryan, Robert Messman, Daniel and Travis Messman; and his very special companion, his dog Molly.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 24th at 1:30 p.m. at Hardin Memorial Park.
