Robert E. Payton

He was born in Hardin County and worked for the Ford Motor Company. He loved hunting, fishing, and enjoyed boats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hayes and Geneva Payton; a brother, Kenny Payton; and one granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Sturgill Payton of Elizabethtown; one son, Greg (Theresa) Payton of Elizabethtown; one daughter, Kim (Frank) Riggs of Elizabethtown; one brother, Donald Payton; two sisters, Rita Payton and Karen Lynn; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Gerald Payton officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the funeral and continues after 9 a.m. on Friday.
